CCFL inverter foundation
ACI’s original product focus was inverter design for LCD backlighting, supporting specialized equipment where performance and reliability were essential.
About Applied Concepts
Since 1998, ACI has helped customers solve display visibility, backlight power, inverter replacement, LED control, and specialty conversion challenges for demanding equipment programs.
Company Story
Applied Concepts began by designing and manufacturing DC-to-AC inverters for Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp backlights. Those products supported medical, industrial, military, aviation, marine, and commercial display applications where reliable lighting power mattered.
As LCD panel manufacturers shifted from CCFL to LED backlighting, ACI expanded into constant-current LED drivers, LED rails, display modification kits, and high-bright LCD support. The work has continued to evolve, but the core focus remains the same: helping customers make display and lighting systems perform in the field.

Technology Evolution
ACI’s original product focus was inverter design for LCD backlighting, supporting specialized equipment where performance and reliability were essential.
As the market moved toward LED backlighting, ACI developed constant-current driver platforms and supporting accessories for display and lighting applications.
ACI expanded into LED rails, conversion kits, and high-bright LCD modifications for customers that need better visibility or longer service life.
ACI continues to support Class A and Class B NVIS needs, dual-mode day/night display paths, and application-specific lighting behavior.
What ACI Builds Around
ACI supports teams that need more than a commodity power component. Common work includes matching electrical behavior, improving brightness, extending service life, adapting mechanical fit, and supporting special operating modes such as NVIS.
Legacy display platforms often need practical conversion paths. ACI helps evaluate inverter replacement, LED rail options, driver behavior, and retrofit requirements.
When ambient light or operating conditions demand more from a display, ACI reviews backlight performance, thermal behavior, dimming, and production feasibility.
ACI supports NVIS-oriented display work for military, aviation, and marine programs, including day/night performance paths and specialized LED rail designs.
How We Work
ACI’s value is strongest when a project has real constraints: brightness, dimming, power, thermal behavior, form factor, lifecycle, or qualification expectations. We review the application, identify the path that can actually be built, and support the details needed to move from concept to production.
We start with how and where the equipment will be used, then evaluate the electronics and display path.
Design decisions are reviewed with build quality, testing, documentation, and repeatability in mind.
ACI supports both new designs and legacy equipment that must remain serviceable in the field.
